This page explains how to dispose of our electrical products responsibly under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013.
1. Why electrical waste is different
Electrical and electronic equipment contains materials that can harm the environment if sent to landfill, and valuable materials that can be recovered and reused. That is why products like ours carry the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol: it means the item must not be disposed of with ordinary household waste.
2. How to recycle your Driftbloom product
- Local recycling centre: take the product (including the power adapter) to your nearest household waste recycling centre — most UK centres accept small electrical items free of charge. Find your nearest at your local council’s website or via recycleyourelectricals.org.uk.
- Return it to us: as a distributor of electrical equipment, we accept back old equipment of the same type on a like-for-like basis when you buy a new equivalent product from us. Contact hello@driftbloom.co.uk within 28 days of your purchase and we will explain how to send the old item to us. You pay the postage for the take-back return; recycling itself is free.
- Retailer take-back schemes: many large electrical retailers also operate in-store take-back for small electricals, which you may find more convenient.
3. Before you recycle
Remove any plant, soil and water from the planter and, if possible, return the levitating element to rest on the base and package the parts together. Remember the base contains strong magnets — keep it away from bank cards and electronic devices during transport.
4. Packaging
Our cardboard packaging is widely recyclable through household kerbside collection. Protective inserts vary by product; check the material marking on the insert before deciding which bin it belongs in.
