A small act of quiet defiance
The Driftbloom Levitating Planter holds a geometric pot in mid-air above its base, suspended on a magnetic field, turning slowly as it floats. There is no trick photography and no thread — just electromagnets in the base doing something that still looks impossible after the hundredth glance. Put an air plant or a small succulent in it, set it where people will see it, and watch everyone who walks past stop.
How it works
The base plugs into the mains with the supplied UK adapter and generates a steady magnetic field. The pot carries a matching magnet. Lower the pot toward the centre of the base, feel it catch, and let go — it settles into a stable hover and begins its slow rotation. If it is ever knocked off balance it simply comes to rest on the base; lift it and float it again.

What to plant in it
Air plants are the natural match — they need no soil and stay light. Small succulents and other compact, lightweight plants also work well. Keep the planted weight modest so the pot floats comfortably, and lift the pot off the base before watering; wipe away any spills before floating it again.
Specifications

Safety first
This product contains strong magnets and mains electronics. If you have a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or other implanted medical device, keep it at least 30 cm away and consult your doctor before use — if in doubt, do not use it. Keep away from young children; swallowed magnets are a medical emergency. Keep bank cards and magnetic media away from the base. Indoor, dry locations only, and use only the supplied adapter. Full guidance is on our Product Safety & Electrical Information page.
Questions people actually ask
- Is it silent? Yes — the levitation is completely silent. There are no moving parts in the base.
- What happens in a power cut? The pot settles gently onto the base. Nothing falls, nothing breaks. Float it again when the power returns.
- Is it hard to set up? Most people get the hover on the first or second try. Lower the pot slowly toward the centre until you feel the field take the weight, then let go.
- Does the plant really benefit from rotating? The slow turn means no side of the plant permanently faces away from the light — and it looks wonderful. We make no bigger claim than that.
- Can I use it without a plant? Absolutely. It is just as happy floating empty as a sculptural object, or holding small dry items.
